Lenten Practice: Day 4

A Photo A Day Lenten Practice - Day 4

March 8 - Winter Feeding Stations
Throughout this winter we have kept food available for the birds that live around our house - sometimes it has been a chore as they have consumed a feeder or two a day.  Other times it is a week between fill ups.  The birds have been a blessing of beauty throughout this harsh winter - flashes of blue and red and yellow as the blue jays, cardinals and finches come to the feeders each day reminding us of life beyond the four walls of our house.  Even in the harshest weather everyday there were birds - often in the harshest weather more birds came as they could depend of getting food here.  It is a strange responsibility caring for God's creatures in this small way and respecting and admiring their wildness.  I am sure that they bless us more than we bless them.

Psalm 30: 4-5:  Sing praises to the Lord, O you his faithful ones, and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment; his favour is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
